Giuliani Leads Clinton in One Poll
A statewide poll released in Albany, N.Y., has Republican Rudolph W. Giuliani leading First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton in the run-up to next year’s Senate race, while a second survey has them in a statistical dead heat. The poll from Marist College’s Institute for Public Opinion has the New York City mayor favored by 49% of voters questioned, with the first lady favored by 40%. But a poll from the Quinnipiac College Polling Institute has Mrs. Clinton favored by 45% of voters surveyed, with the mayor the choice of 44%. Marist’s telephone poll of 717 registered voters was conducted Tuesday and Wednesday and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points. Quinnipiac’s telephone poll of 911 registered voters was conducted from Sept. 7-13 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
