Fund-Raiser Features Comedy for a Cause
A one-woman show spoofing Catholic school will be staged tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Corona Del Mar home of Michael Farah, 48, a television producer and stockbroker.
The show, called “Late Nite Catechism” is performed by Maripat Donovan of New York City. Interacting with her audience, Donovan plays a nun leading an adult catechism class.
Farah saw Donovan’s show in Los Angeles last spring and decided to host her play and raise funds at the same time for the Celebrity Foundation for Children, a nonprofit organization he started that feeds 25,000 people each Christmas.
“She makes the entire theater laugh for two whole hours without ever saying a dirty word,” said Farah.
The two-hour show will be performed at Farah’s home in a makeshift theater set up on his tennis courts. Farah expects around 750 people at the fund-raiser, which costs $75 and includes cocktails and hors d’oeuvres before the performance and coffee and dessert afterward.
