Ducks Run It Up on Nevada, 72-10

Reuben Droughns scored three touchdowns and Oregon set a home scoring record with a a 72-10 victory on Saturday against Nevada.

Droughns, who ran for 110 yards in 18 carries, opened the scoring on the fifth play of the game with a five-yard run up the middle.

The Ducks (2-1) broke the school record for points set last year in a 63-28 victory against Stanford.

Jason Cooper set a school record with a 99-yard kickoff return and Marshaun Tucker caught touchdown passes of 51 and 26 yards from quarterback A.J. Feeley.

Sophomore running back Herman Ho-Ching, coming back from a one-game suspension for violating team rules after a marijuana conviction, had 77 yards in 11 carries, and added a seven-yard touchdown run at 9:38 of the second quarter.

Oregon already had begun piling up points in the first half before Nevada (0-3) lost starting quarterback David Neill to a concussion, possibly suffered when he tackled linebacker Peter Sirmon after Sirmon’s interception late in the first quarter.

Before leaving, Neill was able to pick apart the Oregon defense several times, connecting with Trevor Insley on passes of 23, 14, 13 and nine yards in a 50-yard drive to a field goal that made the score 7-3 at 5:08 of the first quarter.

Insley, the leading receiver in the nation with 30 receptions for 388 yards, caught 14 for 212 yards.
