Donna Karan’s signature line was an ultra-sexy collection of torso-hugging soft jackets for daytime that were teamed with scarf skirts made of stretch silk chiffons, jerseys and organza. Petal skirts fluttered on the runway on such models as Esther Can~adas.

Handkerchief point and asymmetrical hems were seen on evening gowns, some seemingly held up by a slither of a string around the neck. One-shoulder strap gowns in jersey and silk chiffon became canvases for hand-painted florals. The best of the collection were seven skintight column dresses in silver and iridescent hues of rose, pale blue and aqua.

In a separate show of the DKNY bridge collection, Can~adas led a posse of leather-clad models--men and women--dressed in flesh-colored motorcycle jackets, minis and trousers. Karan added shimmer with a line of “foil” jeans in metallic-finish fabrics of gold, green and pink, paired with simple cotton tops, tanks and T-shirts.
