Probe Targets Official of Tournament of Roses

Police are investigating the chief money manager of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Assn., who is suspected of stealing $60,000 over the last two years, authorities said.

Chief Financial Officer Richard Quattropane abruptly resigned July 31 after auditors discovered funds were missing from the firm that hosts the Rose Bowl and Rose Parade. Tournament of Roses officials notified police last month.

“In a nutshell, there is approximately $60,000 missing and [investigators] are trying to determine why,” said Sgt. Jacqueline Gibson. “The reason he hasn’t been arrested is because the investigation is ongoing.”

Police have interviewed Quattropane and informed him that he is under suspicion of grand theft, Gibson said. Tournament of Roses officials would not comment on the investigation.
