At its meeting Monday, the City Council is expected to vote on renewing a 12-year authority for eminent domain for land between the Santa Ana Freeway and Edinger Avenue, and the Costa Mesa Freeway and Red Hill Avenue.

Residents recently gathered at a meeting for the Southern Central Redevelopment Plan, which encompasses the area, to voice their concerns over whether the renewal would give the city the right to sell the land without their consent. However, Jim Draughn, senior project manager for the city, said the city has no plans to sell the land. The council meets at 7 p.m. in chambers, 300 Centennial Way. Information: (714) 573-3025.
