Irvine may not be the most romantic city in the nation, but the Ladies’ Home Journal has given it publicity for trying.

The October issue highlights the city’s attempts to make the magazine’s top 10 list.

“Many mayors want to make their cities more livable. Mayor Christina Shea . . . wants to make hers more lovable,” the article reads.

Irvine also appeared in Ladies’ Home Journal last year, when the city was rated the country’s fourth-most woman-friendly city.

Irvine did not make the list for the most romantic cities, however, and Shea formed a task force in March to boost the city’s reputation.

After months of research, the task force concluded that Irvine offers numerous romantic venues. Its list includes the Concordia University chapel, Travel Land, the Turtle Rock hills, the Duck Club, the UC Irvine Arboretum and the Woodbridge lakes.

Meanwhile, the Irvine Museum will join in the efforts by hosting an exhibit themed “All Things Bright and Beautiful” in October.
