The City Council will announce the members of its Community Services and Planning Advisory committees this afternoon.

The 11-member Planning Advisory Committee will help the city manager create a development plan for the 6-month-old city. It will make recommendations to the council about building projects, changes in street lights and stop signs, and review the environmental impact of each project.

The Community Services Committee--also made up of 11 members--will be in charge of developing city and beautification and cleanup programs. It also is in charge of bringing arts and cultural events to the city.

But not everyone on the council is ready for the committees.

“I think we have the cart before the horse on this one,” said Councilwoman Ann M. Snider. “I would have liked if we set out the parameters of the committees first. We’re doing it backward.”

The meeting begins at 2 p.m. in the Leisure World Administration Building, 23522 Paseo de Valencia.
