House Advances Flood Relief for Nevada
Nevada would be eligible for as much as $3.3 million in federal disaster relief for the floods that ravaged Las Vegas last July, under a supplemental spending bill approved by the U.S. House.
“Clark County’s residents will never forget that stormy summer day of July 8, 1999,” Rep. Jim Gibbons, R-Nev., said.
“The rains hit with terrible force and caused millions of dollars in damage to homes, businesses, road and highway infrastructure,” he said.
The overall spending bill approved Thursday on a vote of 263-146 provides $600 million nationally for the Federal Highway Administration’s Emergency Relief Program.
“It is my hope that no more flooding occurs in Nevada. But this emergency funding will help replenish our depleted highway fund and give Nevadans the peace of mind in knowing we will have money to repair infrastructure damage in the future,” Gibbons said.
