Share

Ventura County’s Brown Bag Seniors Program is now available to more seniors countywide, thanks to an expansion of eligibility requirements.

Food Share, the county’s main food bank, currently provides a 13-pound bag of groceries each week to more than 1,500 seniors who have monthly incomes of less than $695 for one and less than $1,213 for two.

Now, those over 60 who are making less than $915 for one and $1,700 for two are eligible to receive food.

Brown bags include bread, rolls, tuna, chicken and other proteins, along with fresh fruits and vegetables. The brown bags can be picked up at 29 sites throughout the county, including churches, senior centers and storefronts.
