Fiber-optic component giant JDS Uniphase Corp. continued its shopping spree, agreeing to pay $750 million in stock for Cronos Integrated Microsystems Inc. of Triangle Park, N.C. JDS Uniphase, the world’s biggest supplier of parts for fiber-optic equipment in phone networks, said Cronos would give it a key piece of technology in the push toward all-optical networks. San Jose-based JDS said the transaction will not affect an antitrust review of its most recent deal, the planned $16.7-billion purchase of competitor E-Tek Dynamics Inc. Antitrust officials made a second request for further documents and information on that deal Friday. JDS Uniphase shares closed off $4.63 at $107 on Nasdaq.
