A plan to build a 115-unit, three-story complex for affordable senior housing was brought to Tuesday’s monthly meeting of the Golden Rain Foundation, Leisure World’s governing body.

South County Senior Services Inc., a nonprofit organization, wants to purchase a three-acre parcel, owned by the Golden Rain Foundation, said Marilyn L. Ditty, executive director.

All rental units would be subsidized by the federal government, with seniors paying 30% of their income toward rent and the government fronting the rest through the Housing and Urban Development Department, Ditty said.

The parcel at Moulton Parkway and Santa Maria Avenue sits in Laguna Woods, though not within the gates of Leisure World.
