Unfair to ‘Fail Safe’

Share

Rarely have I read a more idiotic “review” than the one about “Fail Safe” (“Ditching the Fail-Safe; This Is Progress?,” April 7). Howard Rosenberg not only has the audacity to write about a TV movie he obviously has not seen yet(!), but he compares it with live news coverage?! To compare the sensationalistic, often violent, reports on the news to a well-scripted and certainly well-rehearsed television movie just proves that Rosenberg’s main incentive in writing such nonsense was to fill a page, not because he had anything to say.

A live television movie is an attractive challenge for actors and an exciting experience for viewers. George Clooney and his colleagues should be applauded for their courage instead of being criticized. If anything, “Fail Safe” should be compared to a play--not to the news! And please, Mr. Rosenberg, reserve your criticism for the day after you have actually seen it!
