Roy Romer
Re “Ex-Colorado Governor Seeking L.A. School Job,” April 6: I am totally shocked by this article. In all due respect to Roy Romer, this job begs for and demands an outstanding educator with good administrative skills. There is already on board a chief operating officer, Howard Miller, who is supposed to be handling the business and administrative matters.
I am not speaking on behalf of any political party and think politics should not play any part in this decision. The problems with the Los Angeles Unified School District are so awful. The fact that they don’t have adequate funding for books is just incredible.
I think the school board should reconvene and select a new search firm which specifically spells out that they want an outstanding educator in all respects.
