Twenty-five start-up companies will have a shot at shaking loose some dough from venture capitalists April 18 at the sixth-annual Southern California Technology Venture Forum.

Company representatives will present their business plans to an audience that includes top financiers, who at past forums have ended up writing checks totaling $150 million to impressive start-ups. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Westin Bonaventure hotel downtown. Luncheon keynote speaker is Ron Fisher, vice chairman of Softbank Inc.

Presenting companies include Accelerate Interactive, a network management firm; Filmbazaar.com, an entertainment B2B; Mixx, a Gen-Y site; Sitepix.com, a multimedia technology developer; Eteamz, a sports portal; Ucre8it.com, a seller of recreational products; and Incredibleart.com, an online art merchant.
