Marvel Comics’ Lee to Take On DC Comics’ Heroes

* Stan Lee, the legendary Marvel Comics guru and creator of Spider-Man, the Hulk and the X-Men, has signed on to work with his former archenemies at DC Comics. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Under the arrangement, Lee will be allowed to re-create the lives and times of DC’s most recognizable characters, including Superman and Batman. Lee, 77, remains the comic book industry’s preeminent figure, even after 60 years in the business. He is still chairman emeritus of Los Angeles-based Marvel. His most recent endeavor is Stan Lee Media; his Web site is home to his animated online comic book, “The 7th Portal.”

* Greg Pieschala has joined Environmental Industries Inc. as executive vice president, in charge of managing and implementing the Calabasas-based firm’s strategic business plan. Pieschala formerly was a principal at McKinsey & Co. in Los Angeles.

* Cumetrix Data Systems Corp., an e-commerce retailer and a provider of computer systems, said it has appointed John Botdorf, a merger and acquisitions specialist, as company chairman. He will be focused on assisting the company’s management team in identification, analysis and financing of future Internet-related acquisitions. Industry-based Cumetrix operates an auction Web site.

* Bahram Nour-Omid has joined Shelter Ventures, a Los Angeles-based digital business incubator and venture capital firm, as a technology partner. Nour-Omid is the founding chairman and chief executive of StudioXchange Inc., which recently merged with IFilm Inc. He also was a founder and former chief technology officer of Scopus Technology Inc.

* DTS has promoted Jon Kirchner to president and chief operating officer. For the last 18 months, he has served as executive vice president, operations, of the Agoura Hills-based company that specializes in multichannel audio technology for entertainment.
