Jury Pay

Re your April 4 editorial on jury pay: The $5 a day that California pays for jury duty is nothing short of pathetic. The only people who can afford to serve as jurors in California are the unemployed and the retired. The $40 that New York pays is not much, but California will not even attempt to match that. The anemic proposal that jury duty be compensated at $12 a day is too little, but at least it is an improvement.
