Korean Meeting

Re “S. Korean Leader to Visit North for Historic Summit,” April 10: I believe that the meeting of the leaders of the Koreas is long overdue. It is true that this event will be affected by the election, but it cannot be delayed any longer. This is a rare opportunity that the Koreas must take advantage of. With the support of the U.S. and Japan, I feel that this engagement will turn out to be a major turning point in the relationship between the two hostile countries. The willingness to have a meeting shows that things can be worked out one step at a time, as the countries start trusting one another and develop a system of understanding and compromise.

History has taken its course, and now it is in the hands of these leaders to have the determination to put their differences aside and work things out. I truly believe that this can lead to a long-lasting friendship between the two Koreas.
