The City Council will consider a request at its meeting Thursday to give city staff the power to create no-parking zones.
City staffers want to be able to create the zones on select streets without coming before the City Council, as long as a zone’s length does not exceed 500 feet. In many areas, winding roads create dangerous driving conditions that are made worse by parked cars.
Any proposed zone longer than 500 feet would require the council’s go-ahead.
