“Mozart and Friends” is a mini-festival (three programs, six performances) from Los Angeles Philharmonic. Pianist-conductor Christian Zacharias leads the first two programs, tonight and Saturday, offering the Piano Concerto No. 22, K. 482, the “Linz” Symphony and German Dances by Schubert. Next week, Haydn’s Symphonies Nos. 83 and 103 and another piano concerto by Mozart, No. 24 in C minor, are scheduled. Closing the series, violinist-conductor Augustin Dumay leads a Mozart/Bach program April 28, when he shares the spotlight with Philharmonic oboist David Weiss.

In the U.S. premiere of Irish playwright Bernard Farrell’s comedy “Kevin’s Bed,” a couple celebrating their golden wedding anniversary remember all too vividly the bombshells that their prodigal son, Kevin, dropped at their silver anniversary. They can only pray that this family reunion won’t be as unexpected as the last.

The last time Guided by Voices played Los Angeles, the show was cut short by an errant stage diver. Things will presumably go more smoothly for the indie-rock stalwarts from Dayton, Ohio, when they team up with Matthew Sweet for two nights at El Rey Theatre.
