Rent-Way Will Offer Gateway’s Computers

Rent-Way Inc. said computer maker Gateway Inc. will invest $7 million in the No. 2 rent-to-own chain as part of an exclusive rental-supply agreement. Rent-Way will offer Internet-equipped Gateway computers for a weekly rental fee of about $20 in its 1,100 stores under the three-year pact. That’s half the fee that the rest of the industry charges, Rent-Way said. Rent-Way rents home entertainment equipment, furniture and major appliances with purchase options at its Rent-Way and HomeChoice stores. Rent-Way stores are located primarily in low- and middle-income neighborhoods.
