Muir Joins Mellon Financial Group as VP

Jon R. Muir has joined Mellon Financial Corp. as vice president for Mellon Private Asset Management’s portfolio management group in Newport Beach. Muir was formerly a financial services representative for Fidelity Federal Bank in Beverly Hills, had a private practice in Portland, Ore., and served as corporate counsel for Universal Trust and Financial Services in Salem, Ore.

* Ed Medvic has joined Caliber Collision Centers in Irvine as vice president of corporate development. He had been with Browning Ferris Industries for 12 years.

* Mark Mortensen is the new vice president of finance for realityBUY.com. in Irvine. Before joining the company, he co-founded E-rehab, an Internet start-up where he served as vice president of development. Before that, Mortensen was director of finance for Regency Health Services.

* Mario Barrenechea has been named vice president of product marketing and E-commerce for Pick Systems in Irvine. Barrenechea joined the company from Informix Software, where he was director of product marketing and management for the TransAct Business Group.

* Denise Murphy has been appointed sales and marketing manager for John Laing Homes’ Orange County division in Irvine. She was previously director of sales, marketing and customer care for SeaCountry Homes Inc., and before that was a senior account executive for Morris Advertising and Design.

* Tai C. Pham has been appointed chief executive of Providential Holdings in Fountain Valley. Nhi T. Le, co-founder and director of Providential Holdings, will act as president and chairman. Pham previously founded Paragon Solutions.

* Natalie Hill has been named marketing coordinator for Dane-Elec Memory in Irvine. She was formerly membership director at the Newport Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce.

* James M. Haywood has been named president and chief executive of Fidelity National Credit Services, a division of Irvine-based Fidelity National Financial Inc.. Haywood has more than 20 years of experience in the mortgage banking and credit industries.

* L. William McIntosh, president and chief operating officer of Nexell Therapeutics in Irvine, has been named to the company’s board of directors. In addition, Lewis P. Chapman has joined the company as vice president, global marketing. Chapman was formerly executive vice president of the Verge Group, a strategic marketing and business development consulting firm. He has also held senior management positions in Matrix

Pharmaceutical Inc. and Berlex Laboratories. Dennis Van Epps, formerly head of research, has been appointed to the new position of vice president, research and development. Wayne A. Tyo has joined the company as corporate controller. He was previously controller at Perigon Medical Distribution Corp., MedTrans Inc. and CareVisions Corp.

* Jeff Evans has been appointed vice president, operations for Koll Construction L.P. in Newport Beach. He will be responsible for operations of the Northern California office. Before joining the company, Evans was vice president of the Town Group in Irvine and vice president of construction for Lowe Enterprises in Santa Monica.
