George Moore; Former Citibank Executive, Head of N.Y. Opera Group

George Moore, 95, former banker and head of New York’s Metropolitan Opera Assn. Born in Hannibal, Mo., Moore began his business career as a boy, selling honey and working as a delivery boy for a delicatessen. After studying at Yale, he joined Farmers Loan and Trust Co., which later merged with First National City Bank of New York, which eventually became Citibank. Moore rose to run the bank’s domestic division and later its overseas operations in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He retired from the bank in 1967. That year, he became president of the Metropolitan Opera Assn. On Friday at his home in Spain.
