Quest Software Inc.

The Irvine maker of Web-related software for electronic businesses reported a net loss of $5.7 million, or 7 cents a share, for the first quarter, compared with a profit of $943,000, or 1 cent a share, for last year’s first quarter. Revenue more than doubled to $28.7 million from $12.8 million. Its stock gained $4.69 to close at $45 a share, though results were issued after the market closed.
