Korando Gets Habitat for Humanity Post

Mark Korando has been named director of site acquisition for Habitat for Humanity of Orange County. Korando will be responsible for negotiating agreements to provide funding for land purchases on which the group will build affordable homes for low-income families. Korando has spent the last 21 years in the building industry, most recently as senior building and grading inspector for Irvine’s building department.

* Brian Ahern has been appointed president of Simulation Sciences Inc., a Brea supplier of simulation software primarily used for the petroleum-related industries. Ahern was formerly an executive at the Foxboro Co., which like Simulation Sciences shares the same parent company, Ivensys. Ahern will direct the company’s growth plans, focusing on technology and e-business and global markets.

* Janet Crumpley has been promoted to vice president of sales for North America at PICK Systems, an Irvine developer of database management software. A 12-year company veteran, Crumpley will oversee PICK’s sales in the United States and Canada.

* Brent Caldwell has been hired as a vice president in the land development group of engineering firm Robert Bein, William Frost & Associates in Irvine to pursue real estate projects throughout the West. Nicole Harris has been hired as the company’s marketing assistant to handle public relations, trade show coordination and marketing support. Caldwell, a UC Irvine graduate, has nearly 20 years experience in civil engineering and land surveying with expertise in large master-planned communities. He is a member of several industry associations and is president of the Consulting Engineers and Land Surveyors of California. Harris, a USC graduate, was a marketing coordinator at another Irvine firm. * John Eggemeyer has joined the board of National Interbank, an Irvine Internet-based bank for Web businesses. Eggemeyer is chief executive officer and founder of Castle Creek Capital LLC, a financial services fund. He also was a former director and large stakeholder in Western Bancorp.

* Gregory Deming has been named vice president of sales at Firstsource Corp., a Santa Ana Web merchandiser. Deming will oversee recruitment and development of a national sales force. He is a former senior vice president of sales at Cigna Group Insurance in Philadelphia and an executive at American Express Co.

* Allen N. Kimble has been hired as chief executive officer at PriceNetUSA.Com an e-commerce and Internet technology company in Irvine. Kimble, a certified public accountant, will oversee PriceNet’s financial operations. He is a former financial consultant to Xtranet Systems Inc. in Santa Ana, an e-commerce credit card processing company.

* Jon Wampler has been appointed a director at ChromaVision Medical Systems Inc., which has developed a system that detects and treats cellular disease. After serving as a 25-year veteran in acute and managed care positions, Wampler retired as chief executive officer of PacifiCare of California in 1998.

* Marc Nussbaum has been named vice president of product development at MTI Technology Corp., an Anaheim manufacturer of data storage systems. He will oversee product development. Previously, Nussbaum was chief technical officer for Western Digital Corp.

* Greg Scott has been named president of Arden B., a new division of Foothill Ranch-based Wet Seal Inc. Scott will head up the retailer, whose 82 stores in 24 states focuses on young, contemporary women’s fashions. He was vice president of merchandising at Bebe Stores Inc. for four years, and also was an executive at Ann Taylor Stores Corp.

* David Jones has been appointed as a director at Mcglen Internet Group Inc., a Tustin-based e-commerce specialist. Jones is president of Aon Consulting’s Human Resources Consulting Group.

* Allen Grogan was named vice president of corporate development at Viacore Inc., an Orange-based business-to-business service provider. He will serve as the firm’s general counsel and as a contact for potential partners and customers. Grogan was a former partner at the Los Angeles law firm Blanc, Williams, Johnston & Kronstadt.

* Walter Kaczor Jr. and George Carpenter IV have been named directors at GuideSmart.com, a Laguna Niguel business-to-business portal. Kaczor is a vice president at Keane Inc., a software services company, and Carpenter is chairman of CORE Inc., a managed-care firm.

* Carol Munroe and Dave Andrade have been named executives at Nexgenix, an Irvine company that develops Web sites and retains online visitors to those sites. Munroe, who was a former executive at Manugistics Inc., will become vice president of sales. Andrade, who joined the company last year after being regional director at Sun Microsystems, has been promoted to vice president of strategic accounts.

* Thomas Kiley has been named chief operating officer of WholesaleExchange.com, an Irvine company that electronically markets excess packaged groceries. Kiley, a vice president at Lucky Stores and a 25-year supermarket veteran, will be responsible for sales, marketing and operations. In addition, the company named three others to its advisory board: Dick Goodspeed, a former chief operating officer at Vons Cos. and Lucky Stores; Ernie Townsen, founder of Budget Gourmet and a former executive at Dole Foods and Kraft Frozen Foods; and Lou Weiss, a former senior vice president, at CarsDirect.com.

* Tom Thomas, Joel Slutzky and David Scheel have been named directors at Mariner Networks, an Anaheim supplier of broadband access. Thomas, who is president of Scriptics Corp., has been named chairman; Slutzky is chairman of Mariner’s parent company, Odetics Inc., and Scheel is Mariner’s president.

* Tom Graham has been promoted to vice president of marketing at Yamaha Electronics Corp. USA in Buena Park. Graham who joined Yamaha in 1989 as national product manager, will be responsible for analysis, planning and implementation of marketing and sales programs. He has been the company’s national director of marketing. Prior to joining Yamaha, Graham held marketing positions with Sherwood and Pioneer, as well as marketing and engineering positions with General Electric.
