National Mobile TV Appoints New Chief Executive, President

* Los Angeles-based National Mobile Television Inc., a supplier of remote mobile units for broadcast TV and live Webcasting, has appointed Mark Howorth chief executive. He succeeds Steve Clifford, who will remain the company’s chairman. Howorth was previously a partner in Bain & Co. National Mobile also promoted Joe Heitzler to president of New Media Group.

* The Los Angeles office of Bain & Co., a global business consulting firm, has appointed John Perkins to vice president and partner. Perkins, who rejoined Bain in 1995, is a founding member of the Los Angeles office. Perkins originally joined the Bain San Francisco office in 1986, leaving in 1992 to serve as the director of corporate development for WellPoint Health Networks.

People--Joe Heitzler has been promoted to president of National Mobile Television, a Los Angeles-based supplier of broadcasting remote mobile units. His title was incorrect in Wednesday’s Business section.

* Union Bank of California has promoted executives Fara Raban and Howard W. Russell to senior vice presidents in the San Francisco bank’s Los Angeles office. Raban will serve as technology manager for the bank’s finance, global markets and knowledge warehouse. Russell will work in the newly organized operations and customer services group.

* Karen Goodman has been promoted to senior director, international at MCA Records in Santa Monica. In her expanded role she will be responsible for the design and implementation of marketing and promotion strategies for MCA artists in overseas markets.

* Vans Inc., the Santa Fe Springs-based sports apparel maker, named Arthur Carver senior vice president, global operations. The former Reebok executive will be responsible for overseeing Vans’ global logistics, sourcing, information technology and customer service, as well as international sales for Asia and South and Central America.

* Michael Wasson was named chief of institutional marketing for Fiduciary Trust Co. International’s Western region. Wasson, previously West Coast director of institutional sales and client service at ABN Amro Asset Management, will be based in Los Angeles.

* The Los Angeles family law firm formerly known as Mannis & Phillips has reorganized to become Phillips, Lerner & Lauzon. Mannis & Phillips was disbanded last month.
