Both City Council incumbents, Mayor Joel Lautenschleger and Councilman L. Allan Songstad Jr., filed nomination papers with the city to retain their seats on next year’s council.
The registrar of voters verified the incumbents’ nomination papers last week. The nominations must have at least 20 signatures from registered voters in the city.
Laguna Hills residents Roderick Reed and Nikena Leason also have picked up nomination papers but have not yet filed them. The deadline to file papers is Aug. 11. Nomination papers can be picked up by making a 30-minute appointment at City Hall, 25201 Paseo de Alicia, Suite 150. Information: (949) 574-2635.
