A hotel to open in January 2001 as part of the Town Center development could bring the city nearly $10 million over 20 years.
Kevin Clarke, project director of Polygon Development L.P., based in Costa Mesa, called the estimate conservative and said he expects the facility to bring in more.
The Costa Mesa-based Ayres Hotel Group is currently building a 140-room Country Inn & Suites on 2.5 acres at the Town Center development at El Toro Road and Calle Sonora near Gate 7.
Polygon will build most of the center but is selling land for other kinds of development. City Manager Leslie Keane wants to verify Clarke’s revenue estimate.
