The City Council voted unanimously to award a residential street refurbishing contract to Doug Martin Contracting Co. of La Habra in the amount of $135,259.32.
Four bids were received for the project and the contractor’s bid was 10% lower than the engineer’s estimate of $150,000. The city staff reviewed the bid document and found the contractor has completed similar projects in the city in a satisfactory manner.
The project includes adding emulsion/aggregate slurry to the existing asphalt pavement surface. This process extends the pavement life and temporarily defers costly asphalt pavement reconstruction.
