Ask Jeeves Inc. hired former Hasbro Inc. executive Adam Klein as president to replace Ted Briscoe, who resigned in May. Klein, 49, has served as a board member and consultant for Internet companies including GetConnected.com and Bidder’s Edge since leaving Hasbro last year. He served as president of global marketing at the toy company, which he joined in 1996. Klein, who also served as chief executive of South African retail distribution company Boumat Ltd. from 1992 to 1994, plans to work closely with CEO Robert Wrubel to create local versions of Ask Jeeves’ Internet question-and-answer service around the world. When Briscoe resigned, Ask Jeeves said it didn’t plan to replace him. Emeryville, Calif.-based Ask Jeeves rose $1.38 to close at $19.75 on Nasdaq.
