NetZero Loss Widens

NetZero Inc., a provider of free Internet access, said its fiscal fourth-quarter loss widened to $26.9 million, or 26 cents a share, as marketing expenses, product development and other costs surged. Analysts had expected a deeper loss of 29 cents. Revenue rose more than fivefold to $18.7 million from $3.73 million. Westlake Village-based NetZero said it gained 900,000 registered users during the quarter, ending June with nearly 5 million.
