CSUN to Offer 9 Online Courses
Cal State Northridge, for the first time, will offer nine online upper-division courses this fall for students whose schedules are complicated by work or long commutes.
“These online classes provide a great service, because CSUN students need to satisfy nine units of upper-division general education in residence before an undergraduate degree can be awarded,” said Robert Danes, director of undergraduate studies.
“Students who live as far as Ventura and Santa Clarita will be able to take classes without having to leave home again after a long workday,” he said.
The classes are open to CSUN students, who may register by telephone. Students from other CSU campuses may also enroll in the online courses after applying for intrasystem concurrent enrollment at their home universities. Community members interested in a course for personal enrichment may be able to sign up through CSUN’s Open University program.
While the classes will be conducted entirely in cyberspace, with no physical class meetings, students will be required to purchase textbooks, take quizzes and tests and complete projects just like in any other college class.
Space is still available for the online courses in art, communication studies, English, health sciences and theater. The last day to add a class is Sept. 15.
