Mission Viejo Hosts Top Divers

Members of the United States’ diving team for the 2000 Olympics will be featured in the three-meter and platform competitions at the U.S. Outdoor National Championships today and Sunday at the Marguerite Recreation Center in Mission Viejo.

Mark Ruiz, David Pichler and Troy Dumais are scheduled to be in the men’s competition. Michelle Davison, Sara Reiling, Jenny Keim and Laura Wilkinson are scheduled in the women’s competition.

All seven have qualified for the Olympics.

The preliminaries and semifinals are today, beginning at 9 a.m. The finals are Sunday.

Katie Beth Bryant of Chatham, Ill., won her third national title Friday, defeating defending champion Rachelle Kunkel of West Valley City, Utah, in the women’s one-meter springboard final in Mission Viejo. Kunkel finished sixth.
