Knocke Wins Gold Again at Masters Meet

Bill Knocke of Huntington Beach added a second gold medal Sunday at the USA Track and Field National Masters Championships in Eugene, Ore.

Knocke, 60, won the men’s 60-64 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 47.22 seconds. Knocke also won the 100 hurdles in his age group on Friday.

Elaine Iba of Trabuco Canyon, who won the javelin on Saturday in the 30-39 age group, took first in the high jump with a mark of 4 feet 1 1/4 inches.

Anaheim’s Chuck Gaudette, who won the men’s 35-39 pentathlon on Thursday, took first in the men’s javelin with a throw of 176-7.

Angel Roman of Garden Grove took second in the men’s 35-39 1,500 meters in 4:07.33.

BEACH VOLLEYBALL

A day after securing a spot on the U.S. Olympic team, Laguna Beach High graduate Dain Blanton and partner Eric Fonoimoana finished third at the FIVB Belgium Open at Ostende, Belgium.

Emanuel Rego and Jose Loiola of Brazil won the tournament.

* El Toro High graduate Elaine Youngs and Liz Masakayan defeated Misty May and Holly McPeak, 15-7, in the championship match at the FIVB event in Dalian, China.

* Top-seeded Lisa Arce and Barbra Fontana defeated second-seeded Nancy Reno and Leanne Schuster, 15-13, to win the Beach Volleyball America women’s tournament Sunday at Pismo Beach.

Rachel Wacholder, formerly of Laguna Beach High, and partner Nancy Mason finished fourth.
