Applause for Family Fare

Producer Steve Austin and “Baywatch” hunk David Hasselhoff were bursting with pride Friday after the premiere of “Castle Rock,” starring Austin’s 18-year-old daughter, Alana Austin, and Hasselhoff’s wife, Pamela Bach, who co-produced the film, the first venture of Austin’s new company, Tag Entertainment Inc.

Co-producers Peter King and Conrad Dell’Oca lamented the scarcity of family film entertainment while counting the house at the Directors Guild of America.

“G-rated fare is difficult to find,” King said. “We think it’s possible to create movies that the family can enjoy together, and make a little money, too.”

The evening was a benefit for the Nicole Brown Charitable Foundation and the L.A. County Sheriff’s RADD DRAG Program (Racing Against Dangerous Drugs and Deputies Racing Against Gangs).

The kids in the audience--big and little--included L.A. County Sheriff Lee Baca and his wife, Karen, Richard “Night Court” Moll, Denise, Juditha and Lou Brown and attorney Gloria Allred, who said, “Children love this stuff.” It was a little bit gross, but the point, said writer-director Craig Clyde, “is that kids can have something to look at and we can show it with pride.”
