Former Olympic athlete Linetta Wilson was sentenced Friday to one year in jail for shipping prescription cough syrup with codeine to Texas.
Superior Court Judge Richard Toohey sentenced Wilson, 32, of Huntington Beach and Andrea DeWitt, 24, of Santa Ana after they pleaded guilty to six felonies.
Both were accused of shipping 132 bottles of the prescription drug from a Federal Express office in Irvine, to Kimble County, Texas, in January and February. They pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy, transportation and possession of controlled substances, Deputy Dist. Atty. Guy Ormes said.
Wilson, who won a gold medal as part of the women’s 1,600-meter relay team at the 1996 Summer Games in Atlanta, was given until November to begin serving her sentence.
