Temple Bat Yahm will welcome Rabbi Mark S. Miller back from a congregational tour of Israel. Miller will lead Shabbat worship services at 8 p.m. Friday. The Temple Bat Yahm Membership Committee will sponsor the third annual Congregational and Community Summer Barbecue from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Prospective members are encouraged to attend. Jazz artists Ron Kobayashi and Tom Margitan will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Congregational Church of Fullerton. Their performance will be the latest installment of the second annual Jazz and the Human Spirit, a summer series of music and poetry nights sponsored by the church. Suggested donation is $2. Temple Isaiah of Newport Beach will hold an open house with Rabbi Jaacov Diego from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Social Hall. Diego is the founder of Aish Hatorah’s “Discovery” and is a professor of “Gematria.” His presentations on the Bible and the science of Gematria, interpreting groups of words from the Talmud using the numerical value of letters, are of particular interest to physicists, mathematicians and scholars.
