SAG Strike Coverage

It’s a well-known fact that the Los Angeles Times is no friend to labor unions. But as a striking Screen Actors Guild member, I was more outraged and embarrassed than usual at The Times’ dismissive coverage of our Aug. 7 rally and march in Hollywood.
In the Aug. 8 Valley Edition, a picture, with no adjoining article, of SAG members marching was buried in the B section, page 12, over the obituaries.
What an insult to those of us whose livelihood is on the line in this commercial strike.
Here we are in Los Angeles, where thousands of members of one of the most economically important industries in Southern California take to the streets, and it is virtually ignored by The Times, the city’s major newspaper.
Are you afraid of angering your advertisers? If so, where’s your editorial integrity? Where’s your courage?
