Giant Cotton Picker Found Buried in Field
Someone buried a cotton picker--a machine the size of two garbage trucks--in a Georgia field in what investigators say may have been an attempt by a farmer to defraud his insurance company of $100,000.
The machine was reported stolen in January, and Cotton States Insurance paid the claim.
But over the weekend, Georgia state agents helped the insurance company dig up the mammoth machine near Rochelle. The excavation took 12 hours and required heavy earthmoving equipment.
No charges have been filed; neither the sheriff nor the insurer would identify the farmer.
