The Paul F. Foster, a U.S. Navy Spruance-class destroyer, is scheduled to visit the Port Hueneme Navy base for six days beginning Friday. The public is invited to take free tours.

The ship, which has a crew of 320, is coming to the base for an analysis of its weapon systems, including its Tomahawk cruise missiles.

The Foster measures 563 feet and was the Navy’s first all-electronic destroyer, according to Debra Wardlaw, ship tour coordinator for the Port Hueneme division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center.

The ship, whose home port is Everett, Wash., can stay at sea for seven months or longer, but it usually comes to port about once a month, Wardlaw said.
