The Lake Forest Industrial and Commercial Business Assn. plans to invite City Council candidates to hear their concerns about the El Toro Road Commercial Corridor Redevelopment Project. The group wants an “industrial pocket” removed from the design guidelines.

“With the election coming up, this issue is sensitive for all of us,” said Veronica Dickenson, president of the association.

The guidelines, which will impose restrictions on future construction in the 856-acre area, were adopted temporarily two years ago to set standards for the revitalization of commercial areas. The guidelines were made permanent in a unanimous vote at the City Council meeting Aug. 1.
