SAN CLEMENTE
The city has developed a helicopter monitoring program to handle residents’ concerns about aircraft flying to and from Camp Pendleton. Residents who wish to complain about noisy or low-flying aircraft may call the base at (760) 725-8386.
Marine officials will then contact those residents and deliver a weekly log of complaints to the city clerk’s office. The city also will contact the residents to ensure their complaints were addressed.
The city set up a hotline in May in response to the base’s construction of a helicopter training facility three miles east of the city. City officials have received 13 complaints from nine residents since the hotline was established. Only one involved a Camp Pendleton aircraft being in an area it wasn’t allowed to fly through.
