The Laguna Beach County Water Board wants to talk with the city to dissolve their merger agreement.

The merger is scheduled to take place Nov. 1.

At its Tuesday meeting, the board unanimously approved sending Laguna Beach a letter, asking that the city help the agency work toward “a peaceful solution to remaining independent,” said water district General Manager Renae M. Hinchey.

Also Tuesday, the board unanimously agreed to mail questionnaires to its approximately 8,200 customers to gather public comments on the merger.

The district will include a one-page letter in the mailing to explain its position on possibly reneging on the merger deal.
