LAGUNA HILLS
A special City Council meeting will be Sept. 14 to approve the city’s annexation of 150 acres of Aliso Viejo.
The council is expected to take a final vote on whether to adopt the Indian Hills neighborhood and Sheep Hills Park east of Moulton Parkway, which was approved this month by the state’s Local Agency Formation Commission for Orange County.
The public hearing also will allow testimony from residents living in the area to be annexed. It will begin at 8 a.m. at City Hall, 25201 Paseo de Alicia.
The city originally applied in December to annex the neighborhood and park, plus a second area of Aliso Viejo east of La Paz Road, which included 290 acres of homes and a commercial district.
The state commission, which oversees the formation of cities and annexation of unincorporated areas, dropped the southern area from the city’s annexation bid because it would jeopardize Aliso Viejo’s effort to incorporate as Orange County’s 34th city.
