Dieter H. Farber, a retired general contractor, died Monday in a Ventura hospital following a lengthy illness. He was 62.
He was born May 11, 1938, in Berlin, Germany, and was a 38-year Ventura Country resident after moving from Canada.
Farber had been a building contractor for 37 years and was a member of the Carpenter’s Local No. 150. He retired in 1998.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing and cooking. Friends and family members recognized his flawless workmanship and said he was a master woodworker.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Elke; daughters Christine Kam and Diann Brodie both of Ventura; mother Charlotte Farber of Germany; brothers Gerd and Bernd of Germany; sisters Barbel Frounzke and Karin Suchner of Germany; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura with the Rev. Jon Christenson of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home.
