Nineteen-year-old Levar Harper-Griffith of the United States upset eighth-seeded Simon La Rose of Canada, 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (3), to reach the semifinals of the Laguna Niguel Futures tournament at Laguna Niguel Racquet Club. Harper-Griffith will play Justin Bower of South Africa at 10 a.m. today in one semifinal. The other semifinal will match second-seeded Cedric Kauffmann of France and Stanford’s Alex Kim. Kelly Gullett of the United States and Djalmar Sistermans of the Netherlands will meet Karol Beck of Slovakia and Kauffmann in the doubles final.
