A Workplace Record

A record 65.9% of employed Americans worked full time year-round in 1999, up slightly from the year before. That’s the highest proportion since the government began keeping track 50 years ago. The portion of men declined slightly, but was more than offset by a rise among women. Year-round workers are those employed 50 or more weeks a year; full-time workers log at least 35 hours a week.
