* Re “Ethnic Karen Losing in Myanmar Struggle” (Nov. 24), about the refugees forced to live in camps in Thailand and, specifically, the plight of the Karen people: Whether or not the armed struggle of the Karen National Union, which claims to represent the national aspirations of the Karen people, is at the end of its rope, the human rights violations of the Myanmar (formerly Burma) government and its army will no doubt continue unabated.

Amnesty International and other international human rights organizations have documented large numbers of human rights violations for nearly two decades against all the Burmese people. Truly, the Myanmar government is an equal opportunity perpetrator that, to date, has shown little sign of altering its behavior.
