Contractor Breaks Water, Gas Lines
A contractor working for the Los Alisos Water District punctured a water line and a gas line at Serrano Intermediate School in Lake Forest about noon Monday.
Capt. Paul Hunter of the Orange County Fire Authority said a firetruck was immediately dispatched to the scene, but the water leak was minor and firefighters were not forced to evacuate the school. Hunter said Southern California Gas arrived soon after the break was reported and shut down the leak.
Mike Bray, assistant finance manager for the Los Alisos Water District, said the contractor also hit a stub protruding from the main water line servicing the school. Bray said the district was waiting until school was over to shut down the pipe and begin making repairs.
Bray said there were no reports of flooding or damage.
