Sea Kings Defeat Santa Margarita

Elisha Morgan and Kristin Hanson scored first-half goals to lead Corona del Mar to a 2-1 victory over third-ranked Santa Margarita in a nonleague game Tuesday at Corona del Mar.

Britta Vogele, who missed the previous two games with a sprained knee, had nine saves for the Sea Kings (4-1).

Lauren Winters scored in the first half for Santa Margarita (1-1).

No. 2 Aliso Niguel 1, Costa Mesa 0--Raleigh Coakley scored in the 70th minute for visiting Aliso Niguel (3-0).

Canyon 3, El Dorado 2--Emily Osterfeld’s goal in the 75th minute was the game-winner for visiting Canyon (4-1).

Century 2, Rancho Alamitos 0--Xelyna Perez scored two second-half goals for Century (2-2).

Edison 5, Ocean View 0--Sascha Contreras scored two goals and Kate Marin and Stacia Hoover had two assists each for Edison (2-1-1).

El Modena 2, No. 5 San Clemente 2--El Modena trailed, 2-1, with 10 minutes to play when Ashley Boyer scored on a crossing pass to tie the score. Juanita Lawson scored a first-half goal for the Vanguards (2-0-1).

Courtney Tammelin and Danielle D’Amico each scored a goal for visiting San Clemente (3-0-1).

No. 4 Esperanza 6, Saddleback 0--Shalice Pugmire scored two first-half goals and Adrienne Lindsey scored two goals to lead visiting Esperanza (2-0-1).

Foothill 1, Pacifica 0--Frankee Kelly scored the lone goal on a penalty kick in the 27th minute. The freshman center midfielder has done all the scoring so far for Foothill (2-0), which defeated Newport Harbor, 1-0, in the season opener. Kelly Yukihiro made three saves for Foothill and Heather Frietas had six saves for Pacifica.

Fountain Valley 2, University 0--Melissa Mangrello and Roseanne Peters scored for the visiting Barons (1-1). University dropped to 0-4.

La Habra 4, Kennedy 1--Natalie Roth made two assists and scored twice, including the go-ahead goal in the first half, for La Habra (2-0).

Loara 4, Anaheim 1--Lilibeth Borja and Chiara Leroy scored two goals each for Loara (2-0).

Mater Dei 2, Orange Lutheran 0--Jena Chaidez recorded her second shutout of the season for visiting Mater Dei (2-0) which handed Orange Lutheran (4-1-1) its first loss of the season.

Newport Harbor 3, Northwood 0--Amy Burlingham scored three first-half goals to lead the visiting Sailors (2-1).

Rosary 6, Villa Park 0--The Royals (2-2) got three goals from Laura Kucich, two from Katie Lennon and one from Evie Loreto.

Savanna 7, Santa Ana Valley 3--Kelly Henry scored three goals to break open a 3-3 tie for Savanna (2-1), which trailed, 2-1, at the half.

Westminster 4, Los Amigos 0--Dianna Herrera scored twice and Amy Gilbert and Jennifer Brenner each had a goal and an assist in the victory for Westminster (1-2-1).

No. 10 Sunny Hills 5, Cerritos 2--Senior Simi Phull scored four goals for host Sunny Hills (1-0). Phull has 81 goals in her career, breaking the school record of 77 set by Jill Hendry, who played from 1984 to 1987.
